Remember this is not an instrument AMPLIFIER (i.e. guitar amp), but a quality bi-amplified FULL-RANGE ACTIVE loudspeaker
built with a direct line-in for the amplification of acoustic instruments. You will need some type of pre-amp or small mixing unit,
something readily available both from Schertler and hosts of other companies, to boost the input signal in most cases. In some
instances, as with actively powered instruments, e.g. a Bluestick equipped guitar, you also have the option to go directly to the
loudspeaker. The system also has a line-out feature so it can be used a stage monitor. The speaker system is high powered and designed to provide undistorted volume with a proportionally high level of sound pressure. The advantages of this are obvious, in that, the sound level becomes transparent adapting to the surroundings and allowing the sound to "cut through" ambient noise instead of adding to it. This also lets you "fill" in sound with minimum volume levels creating a fuller projection of the amplified sound. Unique to the unit is the 12 Vdc loop providing a "clean" 12 Vdc power supply to accessories that use from 9-15 Vdc. This is a small feature that dramatically improves performance over other DC type power supplies and allows easy hook-up. There is a special cable provided for use with Schertler PRE-A where only the "+" is used (this avoids the so-called "double-grounding effect" hum noises) where as the ground or "-" signal is received from the input cable of the PUB 2/280. In the case you are to use another type of pre-amp etc. be sure to ask your local dealer or technician about the correct cable to use in order to avoid excess hum/line noise. |
