The design of the RG-03 mounts the piezo element directly on center on the underside of the resonator cone on 'Dobro' style instruments.
This placement of the piezo unit is the best for sound and the best for feedback resistance.
As the original, the RG-03 is Schatten's design - the competition has copied much of Schatten's design because of its great sound and
exceptional, well known, feedback resistance.

The low profile jack assembly is only 1/2" high and may be mounted either from a thin stand-off plate that adheres securely to the area
under the tailpiece or may be mounted directly to the top with 3M VHB tape.
The RG-03 Pro with volume control provides a non-invasive means of putting an output jack assembly on a reso without damage.

Each pickup is hand built and tested by Schatten to ensure good sound. As well, each pickup is warranted for a period of two years
from date of purchase to the original purchaser. |

A word about 'passive' and 'active' pickups:
Players who will be plugging directly into a 'normal' guitar amp will find that they get great sound quality from the RG-03 in passive
form. No preamp should be required in this situation.
Players who must plug directly into a mixing board will most likely need to preamp their signal in order to match up with what most
mixers require in terms of impedance and signal strength.
If you wish to have the electronics on board the instrument then you should be purchasing the 'A' or Active model, the RG-03A.
Should you require the preamp but don't want to put it inside your reso then you should purchase the RG-03 in passive format and add a
Schatten outboard Preamp/DI unit to your pickup system.
If you already own an outboard guitar preamp, the RG-03 in passive format should work properly with just about anything you might have.
